Your Rising sign
how you arrive
The degree of the zodiac climbing over the eastern horizon at the minute you drew breath — also called the Ascendant. Not a part of you so much as the doorway the rest of you comes through.
What it looks like in a life
What a room meets first, and what people describe when they describe you before they know you. It is often quite different from what you feel like on the inside.
Where it comes from
Needs the exact minute and the exact place, because it changes about every two hours. Computed from local sidereal time and the true obliquity of date.
What it is not
Not a mask you are putting on deliberately, and not less real than the Sun. It is simply the angle you arrive at everything from.
